Choose comfortable colour temperature, sufficient brightness and fittings that suit the room's task. Kitchens and work areas need clearer illumination, while bedrooms often benefit from softer light.

Use weather-appropriate fittings, secure mounting and protected connections. Entrance, balcony and pathway lights should improve visibility without creating glare for neighbours or drivers.
Outdoor points need suitable enclosure, earthing where required and a safe circuit. Never use an indoor extension board as a permanent outdoor solution.
It is not a good long-term solution because it may not protect against moisture and dust.
